How We Review and Check Betting Sites
Last updated: September 2026
EthiopiaBetting.Online is an independent guide for Ethiopian bettors. Since all local sports-betting licences were revoked on 15 December 2025, our main job is to tell readers which sites still exist, which have closed, and how to avoid fake copies. This page explains how we do that.
What We Check
| Check | How | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Is the official domain alive? | DNS lookup, page load, page title and closure notices (“suspended”, “maintenance”, “for sale”) | Monthly for all brands |
| Who controls the old domain? | Whether it still runs a sportsbook or now hosts another website | Monthly |
| Legal status | Ethiopian Lottery Service statements and news coverage | Monthly and when news breaks |
| Payment methods | Operator cashier information and payment pages; marked “reported” when we cannot confirm it ourselves | When we update a review |
| Links on our site | Every outgoing bookmaker link is tested to make sure it works | Weekly |
Limits of Our Checks
- We check from outside Ethiopia; some sites block or show different content to foreign visitors, and results on Ethiopian networks can differ.
- We cannot see a bookmaker’s cashier without an account from Ethiopia, so payment information is marked as “reported” unless confirmed.
- Status can change quickly; always verify before you deposit.
How We Make Money
Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you open an account through them, the bookmaker may pay us a commission. This does not change the status information we publish. We list international bookmakers as licensed abroad, never as licensed in Ethiopia.
Responsible Gambling
Betting is for adults only (21+ in Ethiopia). Set a budget, never bet money you need, and take breaks. Read our responsible gambling page.
